Marsala is a sort-of throw back from the 80’s and was introduced this year as Pantone’s<\/a> Color of the Year. If you aren’t from this planet or haven’t heard that Marsala is Pantone’s<\/a> 2015 Color of the Year then pay attention. Marsala, a wine color, will be seen throughout the event and wedding industry this year in the form of invitations, bridesmaid dresses, tablecloths<\/a>, napkins<\/a>, flowers and shoes.<\/p>\n

If burgundy is not your color, don’t worry, Marsala has received some scathing reviews and many have reported on the topic including,\u00a0Pop Sugar, News.com<\/a>\u00a0and The Atlantic<\/a>. \u00a0However, Pantone stands behind their choice calling it “sensual, bold and delicious.” The Pantone Color Institute, goes on to say, “this robust shade incorporates the warmth and richness of a tastefully fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots point to a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”<\/p>\n

Despite the critics, if done well, Marsala is a tasteful and timeless color that can be incorporated into the right color palette. The palettes below shows a trendy gold metallic, soft pinks like rose and blush mixed with a deep Marsala. \u00a0Not only will this look will work in a rustic setting like a barn or even in an elegant ballroom, but the color easily folds into any season, with the right color palette of course.<\/p>\n
